Hebrews: “Once and for All”

Hebrews 10:10-18

I. What is the difference? (vs 10-14)

1. Priest’s work was never finished. (vs 11)

II. Who makes the difference? (vs 15-18)

1. The Holy Spirit empowers the believer. (vs 15-16)

2. The Holy Spirit reveals godliness to the believer. (vs 16)

3. The Holy Spirit gives the assurance of forgiveness to the believer. (vs 17)

LET’S GO DEEPER:

1. This section of Scripture deals with how the old covenant points to the new. How would you explain the old covenant?

2. How did the old covenant point to the new? What is the new covenant? What Bible passages are helpful in defining and explaining the two covenants.

3. Explain the relationship between the old covenant and sacrifices. Why did God institute the sacrificial system?

4. Why does the author note that rather than bringing forgiveness of sin, the sacrificial system actually brought a reminder of sin?
